Slang Strong Spotlight: Kendrick Lamar
If you like hip-hop as much as we here at Slang Strong do, then you need to check out Kendrick Lamar. My musical preferences tend to jump around quite a bit, but I’ve been on a major hip-hop kick lately and I’m always looking for new shit to listen to. We’ve been talking about doing a type of Artist Spotlight for quite some time where we talk about artists that we like but aren’t widely known yet and the staff here is always talking about the newest shit we’re listening to. I know D-Brown has a few bands that he wants to talk about, so I decided to start off with Kendrick Lamar because he’s just been blasting through my car speakers lately.
Kendrick has started to build a bit of a cult following and he’s about to just explode. He just signed a joint venture with Interscope and Aftermath to produce his upcoming album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City which will be released sometime this year but no official release date has been sent. Kendrick Lamar is also going to be on Dr. Dre’s final studio album, Detox which is said to be complete but no release date has been set for that either. Lamar is just putting in work right now though, you can find him doing collaborations with everyone from Wiz Khalifa, to The Game, to Busta Rhymes.
