Earl Sweatshirt Is Back!!!
Earl is FREE!!! This is the most exciting news I’ve heard in quite some time. I hopped on Twitter earlier today to find the long overdue tweet from Early (@EarlXSweat) that read simply “home.” I was immediately floored by this news but was somewhat skeptical considering Tyler has played this prank before, so I remained cautiously optimistic.
Now, you may very well be asking yourself, who the fuck is Earl Sweatshirt? Earl is the youngest member of the west coast hip hop collective, Odd Future. He is an absolute hip hop prodigy. At 16 years old, his parents shipped him off to boarding school in Samoa when they discovered some of his music. Admittedly, some of his music is really dark. Before he left Earl was an absolute star on Odd Future’s second album, Radical. He elevated the caliber of the entire album and was featured prominently throughout. Earl’s worst tracks could stand up to the other members’ best tracks if you ask me.
So, it appears that Earl is indeed back as many of the members of Odd Future have corroborated as much on Twitter. Earl promised to release a track if he reached 50,000 followers on Twitter by the end of the day, a feat that he accomplished easily within just a few hours. Below, you’ll find Earl’s latest track titled appropriately titled “Home”. The sound is reminiscent of Earl’s self-titled debut album, which has a much darker tone than his work on Radical.
Odd Future recently announced their next album, The Odd Future Tape Vol. 2 will be available March 20th. This begs the question, will Earl be featured on the group effort? I certainly hope so, Odd Future isn’t the same without Earl. If you’re a fan of hip hop then you should definitely check out Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, and the rest of Odd Future on Radical. You can also check out Earl’s highly acclaimed debut, Earl.
