Welcome to the first installment of Slang Strong’s YouTube Channel of the Week! Our first selection was a relatively easy one.

Freddie Wong is our first pick for Slang Strong’s YouTube Channel of the Week. Freddie lives in Los Angeles, California and he is a full time actor and director. Before that he was the winner of the World Series of Video Games in 2007. Freddie has created some of the most amazing videos ever posted on the internet. His videos garnered him an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. There are five things that Freddie Wong loves

  • Video Games
  • Guns
  • Epic Factor
  • Special Effects
  • Film

Freddie’s acting skills are ok at best. His choreography however dazzles the screen. Watching him shoot up bad guys is fun and entertaining but when he begins to talk it is a little drab. So even though he is entertaining, his acting skills as a whole are average.

Freddie Wong’s videos have set the bar when it comes to Epicness. From creating a video that is a real life first person shooter, another which was about how to do a rocket launcher jump and the other which shows him shooting up thugs in a grocery store.  The best was the real life version of Modern Warfare complete with voiceovers from the actual game. It seamlessly flowed and as a Modern Warfare fan I loved it.

Freddie’s Videos do have some genuine humor, and there are some laugh out loud moments for sure. But as far as being the funniest videos on the web they are not. The majority of the laughs come from how epic the stunts are. Jedi A holes definitely bumped up his score though and the sequel  was even funnier.

Freddie shines in this area as many videos he creates are extremely creative. One of my favorite ones was Medal of Honor Cat where a cat mans a machine gun in the middle of a battlefield only to lay down suppressive fire and save his team.

Freddie’s video shows the best CGI that any YouTube “Star” has ever consistently put into his videos. A good example of this would be the Real Life Mario Kart. The special effects were amazing and flowed very well.

The overall writing behind the videos are very well crafted. They are very short however which leads me to believe that the ability to run with a good idea is very limited.
