The Walking Dead Is Back!
Finally! The Walking Dead is BACK! Season 2 resumes and I couldn’t be happier. Holy shit it seems like it’s been MONTHS since we’ve seen Rick and the gang going up against walker. Oh ya, it HAS been months. For those of you that are uninitiated, you need to catch up on The Walking Dead. AMC has been just absolutely bringing it in the past couple of years with their original programming. Mad Men is one of our favorite shows, and personally I think Breaking Bad might be the single best show on television.
I actually only got into The Walking Dead recently. I’d heard of it and heard what a good show it was but never really thought twice about watching it. Will had been telling me to check it out and I finally decided to give it a go once I saw that it was streaming on Netflix. I began watching it and got about a third or halfway through the first episode before snoozing out and moving on. The first episode moved fairly slowly, there just wasn’t that much going on in the beginning. A few days later I decided to power through the rest of the episode. Wow. By the end of the first episode I was hooked.
What makes The Walking Dead so great is how realistic it seems. This isn’t a movie about a group of people stuck in a mall hiding from a horde of zombies. This show makes you wonder what might happen in a real zombie apocalypse. This show is as much about the characters, and their need to survive, as it is about the zombies that haunt them. This show does a great job of capturing the suspense of a group of people that are trying only to survive in an extremely harsh world. Over and over again it’s proven that anyone can die at any time. You get the feeling that no character is safe, there are numerous surprises throughout.
The only thing that doesn’t make sense is… why don’t they call them zombies??? Not once do they ever call the undead creatures zombies. They call them geeks, walkers, or even lame brains. Come on, let’s call a spade a spade here, folks.
If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, don’t fret. There aren’t that many episodes to catch up on, and once you get started you won’t want to stop.
